Background / Application
In the production of toothpaste and dental creams, the effectiveness of the final product depends on the formulation and the mixing process. The typical toothpaste manufacturing process involves mixing various liquid and powdered ingredients using a high-speed mixer to ensure that all components are perfectly dispersed and air pockets are avoided.
Toothpaste manufacturing processes generally vary depending on the product type (e.g., pastes or gels) and the ingredients used. The following process steps are typically carried out in toothpaste production:
- Dispersion of Carbopol® in glycerol
- Mixing in 40 percent carbamide peroxide for teeth whitening
The challenge here lies in dispersing Carbopol® in glycerol without forming lumps, since the low-pH glycerol solution causes immediate hydration and an increase in viscosity.
The YTRON Solution
YTRON offers high-quality equipment for toothpaste production that is specifically designed to meet the challenges of the personal care and cosmetics industries. Our high-performance powder dispersers provide leading manufacturers in the industry with safe, effective, and reliable solutions.
The YTRON-ZC was developed to incorporate hard-to-disperse ingredients into a liquid stream in a single pass, resulting in high-quality and efficient powder dispersions.
The YTRON-ZC powder dispersing unit disperses solids extremely effectively and achieves a dispersion rate of up to 70% by weight. Thanks to minimal air ingress, the YTRON-ZC significantly reduces the product’s degassing time. In just a single pass, the powder is fully hydrated and free of lumps, which maximizes product yield and minimizes waste.
Advantages of the YTRON
- Perfect dispersion of the dry ingredients results in a lump-free final product and maximum raw material yield.
- A single pass prevents over-shearing of the raw materials.
- Pre-mixing of powdered ingredients is not required.
- High dispersion performance with low energy consumption.
- Minimal processing times.
